INSULCOT
COTTON FIBER INSULATION
01 // how is InsulCot different
InsulCot Cotton Insulati on is the result of extensive
research and development by Cotton Unlimited, Inc. and others. The
resulting product has undergone thousands of tests and inspections and has
demonstrated superior insulation qualities while eliminating the hazards
associated with conventional insulation products. It is safer for the
installer, safer for the occupant, and safer for the environment. Product
safety was the primary goal in the original development criteria.
02 // how is Insulcot made
InsulCot is made form 75% cotton
fibers & 25% polyester using a patented manufacturing
process. Raw cotton is first processed to separate the fibers. The
cotton is then treated with a wet flame retardant which is absorbed into the fibers. After drying, the treated fibers are mixed with polyester which
serves as a binder. The mixture is then processed to remove any
contaminants and to assure proper blending, it's then
pneumatically injected into a large, specially designed oven which causes the
polyester to melt. As the sticky polyester cools it binds the cotton
fibers giving the final product excellent tear strength and recoil
characteristics. InsulCot has passed all federal tests for insulation,
including fire and moisture resistance. InsulCot also provides many
advantages which are not possible with synthetic products.
03 // what are my options with InsulCot
InsulCot is available in most
standard widths, thicknesses and R-Values. Insulation can be ordered in
rolls, bats or our new blow-in (may require rental of machinery from your distributor). InsulCot's kraft-faced cotton insulation has a
strong, asphalted kraft backing with edge flanges for staple installation.
Its vapor barrier {permeance} complies with government and industry
requirements. Insulation products can also be ordered without kraft-facing
in a variety of widths and thickness. Please contact Rex Neitsch for the
availability of InsulCot Insulation Products in non-standard sizes or for custom
insulation products manufactured for special applications. |
